
SIMBA Telecom (“SIMBA”) safeguards your Personal Data in accordance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
You agree to be bound to the terms of this Notice when you browse and/or access our website(s), use our SIMBA SG App, request for or use our products/services, take part in event/competition organised by us (whichever is applicable).
In this Data Protection Notice (“Notice”), Personal Data refer to personal data as defined under PDPA. All undefined capitalised terms in this Notice shall have the meanings ascribed to them under the PDPA.
What Personal Data do we collect?
We may collect, use and/or disclose your Personal Data such as:
- Identification Information: Your contact and identification details such as your name, NRIC/FIN/Passport number, date of birth and any other biometric data.
- Contact Information: Your contact details such as telephone number, email address and address.
- Account & Billing Information: Your account & payment details such as your SIMBA account number, billing address, credit history, credit card number and bank account details.
- Equipment and Technical Information: This includes information relating to your device(s) used (a) for accessing our services/network; or (b) for accessing our website/ SIMBA SG App.
Why we collect your Personal Data?
We may collect, use and/or disclose your Personal Data for the following purposes (“Purposes”):
- To verify your identity for any of the following Purposes.
- To process orders and applications to provide the products/services that you request for.
- To administer and manage services including billing, obtaining payment, fault management, complaint handling and debt collection.
- To respond to your queries, feedback, complaints and requests.
- To manage and improve our business and operations to better serve you.
- To communicate, provide customer care and account management functions.
- To provide information on deals, events, products, promotions and services offered by us and/or our preferred partners and third-party merchants, subject to your consent for receiving the same.
- To prevent and detect scams, fraud or other crimes, which may include, as the case may be, scanning and filtering content that may interact with you to identify and block malicious content (e.g. scam SMSes) regardless of whether it is a scam, fraud, or part of a commission of crime.
- To meet or comply with any applicable rules, laws, regulations, codes of practice or guidelines issued by any legal or regulatory bodies which are binding on us (including but not limited to responding to regulatory complaints, disclosure to regulatory bodies and conducting audit checks, due diligence and investigations).
- Other coincidental purposes in relation to any of the above.
How we collect your Personal Data?
We collect your Personal Data when:
- You submit any application, registration or other forms.
- You use and/or subscribe to our services.
- You communicate with us or our representatives via telephone calls, emails and/or messages on social media platforms, such as Facebook. Your telephone call may be recorded for training, quality control, business and/or other lawful purposes.
- You visit any of our outlets and our premises, CCTV footage may be recorded.
- We obtain your Personal Data from other telecommunication licensees to provide and facilitate interconnection and interoperability for the provision of telecommunication services.
- Our equipment collects usage data including location-based data to enhance the services that we provide.
- You obtain third party services through us.
- You sign up for alerts or newsletters, and/or participate in a competition, lucky draw, survey or register your interest for any specific products or services offered by us and/or our preferred partners and/or service providers.
- You browse and/or use our website(s) or use SIMBA SG App.
- We are required by law, regulation or order from a relevant industry regulator or governmental organisation to do so.
If you provide us with any Personal Data relating to a third party, you confirm that you have the authority, or otherwise have obtained the consent of the third party to provide us with his/her Personal Data for the relevant Purpose(s).To whom do we disclose your Personal Data?
We may disclose your Personal Data to the following third-party entities for the above Purposes:
- Our related corporations.
- Our third-party advisors, partners and service providers.
- Industry regulators and other government organisations as required by law.
- Credit reference bureaus and financial institutions for credit and payment related purposes and creditworthiness checks.
Withdrawal of Consent
If you would like to withdraw your consent for our collection, use and/or disclosure of your Personal Data, you may make a withdrawal request by writing an email with your full name and SIMBA account number(s) to our Data Protection Officer. If you withdraw your consent, we may no longer be able to provide our products/services to you. We will inform you of the likely consequences of such withdrawal of consent.
We will process your withdrawal request within a reasonable time. If we are unable to do so within reasonable time due to any unforeseen circumstance, we will inform you accordingly.
If you do not wish to receive marketing or promotional materials from us, you may send an email with your full name, and SIMBA account number(s) to our Data Protection Officer, and we will not send to you any communications about such products and services.
Access and Correction of your Personal Data
Should you wish to request access to your Personal Data collected by us, i.e. for us to provide you with your Personal Data in our possession/control and information about the ways your Personal Data has been used or disclosed (within a year before), please send an email to our Data Protection Officer (see below) and we will respond to your access request within 30 days. Reasonable fee may be charged.
We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your Personal Data we have collected is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
If you wish to correct or update your payment information, please log in to My Account. You may update your Personal Data by completing the Change of Personal Data Request Form and emailing it with the necessary supporting documents to our Data Protection Officer. We will respond to your correction/update request within 30 days.
Transfer of Personal Data outside Singapore
We may transfer your Personal Data outside Singapore, e.g. to our service providers in relation to the relevant Purposes. In so doing, we will ensure that the organisations receiving your Personal Data outside Singapore offer a standard of protection that is comparable to that under PDPA, and comply with the terms herein this Notice.
Retention of your Personal Data
In accordance with PDPA, we will retain your Personal Data for only as long as there is a business or legal purpose.
Where we continue to have a business/legal purpose in retaining your Personal Data, we regret that we may not be able to comply with any request to delete your Personal Data that we have in our possession/control.
Protection and Breach Notification
We have implemented safeguards to secure your Personal Data, and prevent unauthorised access and security breaches relating to our database systems and networks.
Where we have reason to believe that a data breach affecting your Personal Data in our possession or control has occurred, we will conduct, in a reasonable and expeditious manner, an assessment of whether the data breach is a “notifiable data breach” as defined in the PDPA. If we assess that the data breach constitutes a notifiable data breach, we will notify the relevant parties as required by law.
